Hello, I am Rebecca, the owner of Wild Seed Medicine!
I am a practitioner of the unseen realms. Everything I do is in partnership with Spirit. I began actively learned and honing my spiritual practices in 2016. Beyond that, I am also a licensed massage therapist, wife, mama, tree-hugger, and Colorado native. I come from well known and very proud Mexican family. My grandparents opened the first Mexican restaurant in Denver, called the Casa Mayan. And my dad was the heart and soul of the restaurant until it was forced to close to build the Auraria Campus. It is my Maya heritage that started this path for me, as I looked for ways to connect to and learn about my culture.
I am trained in Western massage modalities as well as Thai massage. I practice Mayan bodywork and healing inspired by the Yucateca Maya lineage of Miss Beatrice Torres-Waight of Belize. For more information, you can read below about Full Circle. I also practice healing work passed down through an Egyptian lineage and a Norse lineage.
I am blessed to have Ann Drucker, Andye Murphy, Betsy Bergstrum, and Sandra Ingerman as my teachers. These women have not only shared their wisdom and practices with me, but they have taught me how to dance through this world with compassion, beauty, and joy.
I honor my family. I honor all of my clients. I honor all of my teachers and mentors. I honor my well ancestors and my Acuña lineage.
Miss Beatrice Torres Waight (1948-2010) was a traditional village healer in Santa Familia, Belize. Her family migrated to Belize from the Yucatan Peninsula during the caste war at the end of the 1800's. Before her passing, Miss Beatrice arranged for a small group of her long-term students to bring back the Yucateca Maya healing traditions to her family in Belize, once they were of age. Beatrice had a clear vision for bringing these traditions back, to bring the traditions Full Circle.
I have had the honor and privilege to be a part of Full Circle and to travel to Belize to work with Miss Beatrice's children and grandchildren. It was an amazing experience that is hard to fully describe. But, I can say that it was a life changing trip. I learned so much. I felt so connected to Miss Beatrice through her beautiful family who are so kind and welcoming I felt like part of the family. It was a trip that filled me with gratitude, resilience, and humility.
Beatrice Torres Waight was born in Santa Familia, Belize on January 8th, 1948. Beatrice was born in the caul (amniotic sac). In Yucateca Maya culture this is a sign of a healer. Her mother and grandmother were Maya midwives. From them Miss Beatrice learned massage and how to work with herbs. Her father was the village curandero. Miss Beatrice then passed on these traditional ways to students from all over the world.
Miss Beatrice was very proud to be 100% Yucateca Maya and taught her 9 children to be proud of their heritage. She had an amazing sense of humor, deep wisdom, and a radiant smile. Miss Beatrice passed away on October 3rd, 2010, but her teachings and her love are forever alive.
To Read More About Miss B’s Life there is a link below to her book, Fire Heart: The Life and Teachings of Traditional Maya Healer of Belize, Miss Beatrice Torres Waight. The book is about Miss B’s life in her own words and includes Yucateca Maya wisdom, recipes, history, ceremonies and plant lore. All proceeds go to support the education of her grandchildren in Belize.
