Closing of the Bones
The Closing of the Bones is a traditional postpartum rite of passage. I am honored to be given permission to facilitate this ceremony inspired by the Yucatec Maya tradition of Miss Beatrice Torres Waight of Belize. It is a ceremony to acknowledge, honor, and then close the role a woman has taken on during her pregnancy and labor - her role as Creatrix.
In a very real, tangible way, every woman becomes a portal during this time. There is the physical portal, the bones literally opening during labor. And there is the spiritual portal that opens to allow a soul to enter into the physical world. The Closing of the Bones gives a woman space to be recognized for this remarkable role. She can acknowledge and process the experience of pregnancy and birth and all of the emotions that can come with it. Every woman's experience is unique and precious.
This ceremony honors all who have held this portal - full term births, miscarriages, abortions. This is a sacred ceremony that can help a woman heal and allow her to step forward into a new role. Traditionally, the ceremony is done 8-16 weeks postpartum. However, it can help bring completion and is powerful no matter how much time has passed. As the Closing of the Bones is a celebration, you are encouraged to have friends and loved ones present to witness you, honor you, and celebrate you in this rite of passage.
Blessing/Clearing Ceremony
A space clearing is meant to shift out unhelpful and unwanted, stagnant energy and call in fresh energy and blessings for your home, land, or space. These shifts are often needed to match the shifts in our lives. The clearing of a physical space can also be of great help if you feel like there is interference from an unwanted presence. This can show up with strange experiences or maybe an area that just feels off - a room that you avoid and can't explain why. Using traditional techniques and tools, the transformation of the space is powerful and palpable.
You may be asked to participate or tend to the space following the ceremony. More often than not, it is best if you are not present during the clearing. But as always each situation is unique to the circumstances, the size and location of the space, and your ability to be off site. Typically it can take 2-3 hours to fully shift the energetic space.
